JackBe Announces Second Generation of Award-Winning Enterprise Mashup Platform

Release Delivers Mashlets, the Industry's-First Enterprise Mashup Widgets for Business Users, and Support for HP, Sun, Orac

JackBe, the leading provider of enterprise mashup software, today announced from the Web 2.0 Expo, the general availability of the second generation of its award-winning enterprise mashup platform. Presto 2.0 brings enterprise mashups to the business user through enterprise-ready mashup widgets known as ‘Mashlets’. The major innovations in Presto 2.0 also include mashup connectivity for a wide range of enterprise products including Microsoft Excel, HP SOA Systinet, Adobe Flash/Flex, ExtJS, Java™, Web 2.0 portals such as Netvibes and Pageflakes and all major corporate portals including Oracle, BEA, IBM and JBoss.

Created in three clicks, Presto Mashlets are portable and sharable micro-Web applications used for common knowledge-worker activities such as analyzing sales data, tracking competitive information, performing professional research, completing enterprise risk analysis, supporting sales/client prospecting, improving customer service, or providing fast access to any other kind of dynamic, time-sensitive data directly to business users. Presto Mashlets bring true collaboration to the enterprise by allowing users to easily discover and share Presto Mashlets through enterprise portals, blogs, wikis, or email.

In addition to Presto Mashlets, Presto 2.0 innovations include many other features for business users and mashup developers. Solutions for business users include Presto Wires, a visual mashup creation tool and the Presto Connector for Excel that allows business users to consume mashups in Excel and publish mashup-ready Excel spreadsheets. Presto 2.0 includes several developer productivity components to accelerate mashup creation. These components include a mashup development plug-in for Eclipse, an HP-certified Connector for HP SOA Systinet, enhancements to the unique Presto Enterprise Mashup Markup Language (EMML), and a robust Mashup Connector API for Javascript, REST, Java™, Flash/Flex, Silverlight and C#.

“Enterprise technology is encountering a ‘perfect storm’ of SOA, mashups and widgets that are converging together to finally allow the business user to address their most dynamic information needs. Enterprise mashup platforms like Presto 2.0 are an integral part of that solution,” said John Crupi, CTO at JackBe. “Presto 2.0 greatly expands the speed, scale and scope of information use and reuse within the enterprise. Presto Mashlets alone make Presto 2.0 worth looking at but we went much further, bringing mashups and Mashlets to every major tool in use by business users and developers.”

Awarded Enterprise Mashup Platform of the Year in 2008 by InfoWorld, JackBe’s Presto enables users to create mashups for more effective business decisions. JackBe is offering live examples of Presto Mashlets and a 30-day trial-download of Presto 2.0 at http://www.jackbe.com.
