Cumulus Networks Now Powers Over 1 Million Switch Ports Worldwide

Cumulus Networks®, the company bringing the power of Linux to networking, today announced its technology now powers well over 1 million switch ports worldwide demonstrating significant traction in the market for its Cumulus Linux offering. The company now serves customers in sizes ranging from webscale to small business, in industries ranging from technology to education, and in multiple markets worldwide that have embraced Cumulus® Linux® software within their data center environments.

Cumulus Networks’ rapidly expanding customer base can be attributed in great part to increased hardware offerings and new purchasing channels. Now supporting 16 hardware platforms, two CPU architectures and five hardware vendors, Cumulus Linux software gives customers the power to build their data center around the specific needs of their business without being locked in by one vendor. With a newly expanded channel partner program covering three strategic regions, the company’s solution is now available to an even broader range of customers.

New market opportunities have driven customer demand for Cumulus Linux software. In January, Cumulus Networks announced a reseller agreement with Dell, delivering Cumulus Linux software to Dell’s broad global customer base. Cumulus Networks also oversaw the opening of the first Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) certification lab at the University of San Antonio. An extension of the first Open Compute Project (OCP) Certification Laboratory in North America, the ONIE certification lab helps introduce enterprises interested in open data center approaches to Cumulus Networks’ major contribution to OCP – a major enabler of the implementation of modern data center networking architectures.
