SPiDCOM Receives CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Award

SPiDCOM today announced that it has won an International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Award for its SPC300 “no-limits” HomePlugAV SoC. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products. The program is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of CES, and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

Based on a dual-core architecture, the SPC300 is the only fully-compliant implementation of the HomePlugAV specification with a “no-limits” design. The first 32-bit processor is dedicated to the physical layer management and to all the real-time requirements. It enables the SPC300 to adapt to changes in the electrical power lines and to react accordingly in order to keep the highest levels of performance possible.

The second processor is dedicated to customer applications. SPiDCOM provides Linux software and development tools so that its partners can customize “no-limits” added-value applications and this way differentiate themselves from their competitors. They do it with a “no-limits” network interface, because SPC300 has a Gigabit Ethernet port.

“With this award, our third generation of broadband powerline communication SoC makes a successful opening into the US market” said Radomir Jovanovic, President&CEO of SPiDCOM. “This achievement recognizes our technology expertise as well as our commitment to the PLC market”.

The SPC300 will be displayed at the CES, which runs January 7-10, 2010 in Las Vegas, USA. SPiDCOM booth #21863 is located in the LVCC South-Hall 1.
